About
Ryan Herrick received his B.A. in Architectural Studies from Hampshire College and the Five Colleges Consortium in December 2012.
Herrick's specialties as a builder & remodeler range from Kitchen and Bath remodels to Additions and Deck Construction and Finish basements. From frame to finish, he likes to think of himself as a one-stop shop.
As a mixed-media artist, he carries experience in working with different woods and metal fabrication. From residential projects including custom iron railings, interior and exterior trim work to steel picture frames, wood stove enclosures, bar tops and musical instruments, Ryan thoroughly enjoys the spontaneity and challenges of the design/build process.
Ryan was drawn to South Dakota in 2012 to participate in a sustainable housing project on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The project soon became the focus of his senior thesis, "Okiciyapi: An Examination of Architectural Intention," which was selected to be presented at the 35th Annual New England Chapter of the Society of the Architectural Historians' Symposium at Harvard University. You can find a copy of his thesis here on this site.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, he currently resides in Northern Illinois, where he is pursuing residential and commercial construction, mixed media art, organic farming, and his music.
